FlashReel is a short-video social media platform built to research and implement the architecture of modern applications like TikTok and Douyin. The project consists of a backend developed with Java Spring Boot, a native Android app using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, and a web-based admin management system built with React. The backend provides core services such as user authentication, account management, video uploading, video feed generation, interactive features (likes, comments, follows), and a content moderation workflow, all exposed through RESTful APIs. The system integrates JWT, Google OAuth2, MySQL, Redis, MinIO, and OpenAPI, while using Docker and GitHub Actions to automate development, testing, and deployment. The Android app delivers a smooth short-video viewing experience, with capabilities for video playback, content uploading, profile management, and interaction with other users. Alongside it, the web admin dashboard enables administrators to moderate videos, manage users, and efficiently operate the system. FlashReel demonstrates full-stack, cross-platform software development capability — spanning backend architecture design, Android app development, web admin system development, media processing, API design, and building scalable systems for a social media platform.
